Game Summary
The Bethel Men‘s JV basketball team started their season with an exciting 78—73 win over Indiana Tech in the first round of their tournament on Saturday.
Indiana Tech led by three at the half but the Pilots battled back to take the lead and hold it late in the game. Jake Everett led the way with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Matt Owens added 16 points while Micah Horner and Kieffer McCarron each scored 10. Bethel battled “first—game jitters“ as they shot a woeful 1—14 from three—point range.
In the championship game, the Pilots fell to St. Francis by a score of 87—86 in overtime. St. Francis jumped out to an early 15—4 lead but the Pilots fought back by hitting 13 of 22 three—point shots on the game. Blake Evans was 4—4 from behind the arc for 12 points during a six minute stretch. Micah Horner led the scoring with 21 points, hitting 8 of 10 shots. Nick Linvingston added 17, Matt Owens 12, and Jake Everett scored 11. Colton Keel added a double—double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pilots head up to Benton Harbor to play Lake Michigan College at 7:30pm on Thursday, November 12th.
