Men's Soccer Impressive in 8-1 Win Over Marian
Game Summary
The No. 9 ranked Bethel College men’s soccer team improved to 16-0-1 with an impressive 8-1 victory over Marian University in the opening round of the MCC tournament on Saturday night.
The Pilots didn’t waste any time as they put four shots in the back of the net in the first 12 minutes of the game. Ryan Needs, Joao Couto, Tim Jenkinson, and Romulo Nobrega were the first goal scorers before Marian’s Tyler Kitchen put his team on the score board.
Kitchen and his teammates quickly discovered that his lone goal would not be enough as Bethel’s Zach Ganzberg put one more in for the Pilots before half time to take a 5-1 advantage at the midway point of the contest.
In the second half Bethel continued to dominate and added three more goals to finish with an 8-1 victory. The second half goals were scored by Jesse Brenneman (2) and Brandon Sauer.
In other MCC tournament play, Taylor University defeated Grace College 2-1. The Trojans now advance to take on the Pilots in the MCC tournament semifinals next Saturday, November 7th at 7:00 pm in Mishawaka.
